Syria: Israel bombs two areas in the Quneitra countryside
The Israeli army shelled the surroundings of Tel Krum and the Jabbata al-Khashab woods in the Quneitra countryside with five shells, following military movements and incursions the area has recently witnessed, including the abduction and release of a young Syrian man, as Israel continues its attacks and its occupation of the buffer zone.
The Israeli army shelled, on Wednesday, two areas in the countryside of Quneitra governorate in southern Syria, with five shells. The shelling targeted the surroundings of Tel Krum and the Jabbata al-Khashab woods in the Quneitra countryside, according to the Syrian government channel "al-Ikhbariya". The channel did not mention any details about the extent of the damage. This shelling comes after Israeli military movements and incursions the area has recently witnessed. On Tuesday evening, Israeli forces released a young Syrian man they had abducted on Monday evening during their incursion into the village of Briqa in the Quneitra countryside. The Syrian news agency "SANA" had reported on Monday that an Israeli occupation force made up of four military vehicles penetrated the old village of Briqa in the southern Quneitra countryside, searched civilian homes, and abducted a young man and took him into the occupied Syrian Golan, in conjunction with drones flying over the area. Areas of the Quneitra and Daraa countrysides also witnessed on Monday Israeli military movements that included incursions and gunfire toward agricultural land. Israel continues its incursions in southern Syria, despite the 1974 disengagement agreement, while Damascus demands the withdrawal of Israeli forces from its territory and an end to attacks on civilians. Israel exploited the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad's regime in late 2024, announcing the collapse of the agreement and occupying the Syrian buffer zone.
