Suspicion of VIP track in Kfar Saba municipality: "She served as a conduit, he promoted interests"

Police released two businessmen under restrictive conditions suspected in the corruption affair in Kfar Saba. Attention returns to Mayor Rafi Sa'ar and his wife Mital, suspected of running a VIP track in the municipality. Mital Sa'ar is suspected of serving as a conduit for transferring favors, and Rafi Sa'ar is suspected of promoting interests in exchange for bribes. Another hearing regarding them is expected in court.

Police released two businessmen suspected in the corruption affair at the Kfar Saba municipality under restrictive conditions. The conditions include house arrest for ten days, a financial deposit and surety, a ban on contacting those involved in the affair, and a ban on leaving the country for 60 days. Meanwhile, investigators from the National Fraud Investigation Unit (NIFU) intend to bring Mayor Rafi Sa'ar and his wife Mital back to the Rishon LeZion Magistrate's Court for another hearing regarding their case. The assessment is that the hearing will focus on their release conditions to house arrest. According to the suspicion, Mital Sa'ar served as a central conduit for transferring favors and promoting interests of parties seeking consideration from the municipality. Investigators are also examining the direct involvement of the mayor in decisions made in favor of those parties, on suspicion that the decisions served as consideration for bribes. The release of the businessmen marks progress in the investigation but does not indicate its conclusion. The investigation into the eight sub-affairs is expected to continue even after suspects are released to house arrest.
