Mada al-Carmel - the Arab Center for Applied Social Research, published a new study by researcher Dr. Mohannad Mustafa, analyzing how Benjamin Netanyahu used the Iranian threat to build an image of the 'historical savior' of the Jewish people. The study, published as part of the 'Studies on Israel' series, examines the political and rhetorical roots of this narrative, based on Netanyahu's perception of his historical role, and how he linked the Iranian nuclear file to Israel's fate and the Jewish memory of the Holocaust, ultimately presenting the confrontation with Iran as an existential battle requiring exceptional leadership. According to the study, Netanyahu built his vision of his political role on a prophecy he himself crafted, that he would be the historical Jewish leader who saves the Jewish people from an impending genocide, a mission no Jewish leader has been able to achieve in modern history at least. The study argues that Netanyahu was not content with presenting himself as one who detects the danger, but also sought to establish the image of a leader who has the ability to prevent it and change the course of history. The study indicates that Netanyahu found in Iran a central axis for building this narrative, as he warned in an article he published in February 1993.
