Son of Netanel Shokron, murdered in attack: "I saw the terrorist shooting Dad"

Yoav Shokron, 16, recounted in an interview the moments of the attack in which his father Netanel Shokron was murdered on the eve of Yom Kippur at the Ein Ria spring in Binyamin. Yoav said his father shouted "run away" and saved his life, and that the terrorist shot his father at close range. Yoav fled and hid in bushes until military forces arrived. Netanel was laid to rest in the settlement of Eli Zahav, as his widow Merav and family members eulogized him.

Yoav Shokron, the 16-year-old son of Netanel Shokron who was murdered in the shooting attack in Binyamin on the eve of Yom Kippur, recounted the moments of horror this morning (Tuesday) in an interview with the "Kalman Lieberman" program on Kan News. According to him, after they bathed in the Ein Ria spring and returned to their car, the father spotted the terrorist and shouted to his son "run away." The terrorist shot the father at close range, and Yoav fled between the seats, opened the driver's door, and ran to hide in bushes on the side of the road under fire. He hid until a military jeep arrived and soldiers fired at the terrorist. About two minutes later, he returned to the car and saw his father dead. Netanel Shokron, 48, father of six, was laid to rest in the settlement of Eli Zahav. At the funeral, his son, his widow Merav, and council head Yossi Dagan eulogized him. The family said that Shokron's grandfather was murdered on the steps of a synagogue in Algeria about 70 years ago.
