The occupation authorities had allowed the family, hours before the attack, to return to their home after about two months of forced displacement, following a decision by the Israeli Supreme Court requiring them to be enabled to reclaim their home. The owner of the damaged home, Mahmoud al-Tubasi, said the family returned to their home pursuant to the judicial decision, but were surprised by the extent of the destruction and vandalism that had occurred during the period the settlers had seized it and prevented the owners from accessing it. He added that the settlers returned during the night hours and burned the home, destroying it, damaging its contents, and rendering it uninhabitable. The village of Jalus and the surrounding villages and towns south of Nablus are witnessing repeated attacks by settlers, including attacking citizens, seizing land, and damaging property and agricultural crops.
