Senior Shas Rabbi Signals Direction: "Coalition Negotiations with Eisenkot Should Not Be Ruled Out"

Rabbi Moshe Maya, a member of the Council of Torah Sages, states that coalition negotiations with Gadi Eisenkot should not be ruled out. Rabbi Nissim Ze'ev estimates that Aryeh Deri will not step down from leading Shas, following the party's low election result of six seats.

Rabbi Moshe Maya, a member of the Council of Torah Sages, said there is no reason to rule out holding coalition negotiations with Gadi Eisenkot, chairman of the "Yashar!" party. His remarks came against the backdrop of the election results, in which Shas won only six seats, its lowest figure in recent years. Meanwhile, Rabbi Nissim Ze'ev, one of the movement's founders, estimated in an interview that party chairman Aryeh Deri will not resign from his position, and argued that whoever does not want Deri does not want Shas. Ze'ev added that there was no significant election campaign, and that Haredi voters moved to Agudat Yisrael, while right-wing voters moved to Ben Gvir or the Likud.
