US intelligence: Chinese spy targeted Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang

Reports say Chinese intelligence recruited a businesswoman to gather information on Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, aiming to obtain AI chip data and bypass US export restrictions. Sources differ on whether the relationship was romantic.

A New York Times report reveals that China's intelligence agency recruited a businesswoman named Alice Huang, a senior executive at Megaspeed, to spy on Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, a close associate of President Trump. The operation had two goals: gathering sensitive information on American AI chips, and attempting to influence Nvidia to sell advanced chips to China in violation of US restrictions. Alice Huang, who has extensive connections in the chip industry, began a close relationship with Jensen Huang after her friend purchased billions of dollars worth of chips and established data centers in Southeast Asia, which leased their capacity to China's Alibaba. It is also alleged that US intelligence agencies briefed Trump last year, but he took no significant action. Republicans from three House committees have summoned Jensen Huang for a closed-door hearing. Nvidia responded that the relationship is not unusual and that the company does not share classified information.
