Reduce biological age in 4 weeks - a secret from scientists
Australian scientists from the University of Sydney have found that a four-week dietary adjustment can reduce estimated biological age in people aged 65–75. In the study, 104 participants followed four dietary options. The most notable changes were recorded with an omnivorous diet low in fat and 53% carbohydrates. Researchers emphasize that the data do not prove slowing aging or increasing life expectancy.
Australian scientists from the University of Sydney, led by Dr. Caitlin Andrews, conducted a study showing that a four-week dietary adjustment can reduce estimated biological age in older adults. The experiment involved 104 Australian residents aged 65 to 75. Participants followed four different dietary options for a month. Protein content in all options was 14% of total energy, while the ratio of plant and animal protein sources, as well as fat and carbohydrate content, varied. A composite of 20 biological markers, including insulin, cholesterol, and C-reactive protein concentrations, was used to assess results. The most pronounced statistically significant changes were recorded in participants who followed an omnivorous diet with relatively low fat (28–29%) and increased carbohydrate (53%) content. Researchers emphasize that the data indicate a possible link but do not prove that any specific diet guarantees slowing aging or increasing life expectancy. The experiment lasted only four weeks, so it is unknown whether the effect persists with long-term adherence.
