Female soldiers in the observation command course (Kam"a) at Camp Sayarim are complaining of a rat infestation in their living quarters. The rats climbed on the soldiers' beds and personal belongings, forcing them to look for other places to sleep. The father of one of the soldiers told ynet that repeated appeals to the staff did not lead to a solution, and that the soldiers were told to show "maturity and patience." According to him, staff members were angry at the soldiers for behaving "like babies." One soldier, who suffers from a nutritional problem, is afraid to go near food she brought from home for fear the rats touched it. In another case, a soldier found a rat in her laundry basket, and staff told her to close the closet. The father described the conduct as "digging in." The IDF said the matter was examined immediately, initial trapping means were provided, and a team from the Military Health Corps and an exterminator would arrive today to deal with the problem.
