PM to Alsheich: "Give an account of how you proceeded with this stitching up of cases"
Prime Minister Netanyahu attacked the former law enforcement system in an interview on 'Patriots', demanded that Alsheich give an account of what he called 'stitching up cases', called for his trial to be closed and for an investigation to be opened against the investigators, and attacked the 'Defendant Law' as a Soviet method.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu gave a wide-ranging interview this evening (Sunday) to the program 'Patriots' on Channel 14, in which he sharply attacked the former law enforcement system. Netanyahu demanded that former Police Commissioner Roni Alsheich give an account of what he called 'stitching up cases', and called for his trial to be closed immediately and for an investigation to be opened against the investigators and prosecutors. He described the investigations as 'criminal and oppressive' and claimed they were born 'in sin, in offenses, in an illegal manner'. Netanyahu accused journalist Ben Caspit of being 'an operator of the police' and not its informant. He criticized the 'Defendant Law' promoted by the opposition, called it a 'Soviet method' and claimed it leaves the determination of the identity of the prime minister in the hands of Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara. The article does not bring responses from the parties attacked.
