"Our society is poisoned": Uri Barbash's new project tries to save Israel from itself

Director Uri Barbash launches the 'Partnership of Fate' project – 12 short films about Jewish and Arab couples collaborating. Barbash criticizes the political exclusion of Arabs and accuses Netanyahu of poisoning Israeli society since 1995.

Director Uri Barbash launches a new project called 'Partnership of Fate' ('Shirakat Masir' in Arabic), comprising 12 short films showcasing pairs of Jewish and Arab Israeli citizens collaborating in various fields. Among the pairs: Jewish and Arab MMA fighters training together, an Arab bone marrow donor, filmmakers whose producer was killed on October 7, and professors jointly researching a protein clearance system. The films, each about three minutes long, were launched last Thursday on social media. Barbash explains the project is not political and aims to 'repair the world', and sharply criticizes the exclusion of Arab parties from the government by leaders such as Gadi Eisenkot, Naftali Bennett, Avigdor Lieberman, and Yoaz Hendel. He claims Israeli society has been 'poisoned' since the assassination of Rabin in 1995 by Benjamin Netanyahu and his circle, calling the political conduct 'racism from the springboard'.
