On the Day of the Fight Against Violence Against Women: Eyal Golan to Perform in Jerusalem with City Funding

The Jerusalem Municipality is subsidizing a performance by Eyal Golan at the Pais Arena on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, amid suspicions of sex offenses against the singer. Deputy Mayor Yael Biton de Lange and MK Adi Azuz criticized the decision.

On November 25, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, the show "Hysteria at Hanukkah" will take place at the Pais Arena in Jerusalem, featuring singer Eyal Golan. The venue is owned by the Jerusalem Municipality, which decided to subsidize part of the ticket cost and promote it through the residents' benefits club. This decision was made while Golan's case regarding suspicions of sex offenses is still under review by the police and prosecution, following a complaint by a cosmetologist and an appeal in the "Social Games" affair. The event has sparked criticism within the city administration. Deputy Mayor Yael Biton de Lange stated that it is "quite strange and quite annoying" for the singer to perform specifically on this day, while "this cloud of harming women still hovers over him." MK Adi Azuz from the "Together" party also called on the mayor to cancel the subsidy, arguing that the conduct could deepen harm to complainants and deter other victims. The Jerusalem Municipality responded that it supports subsidizing tickets for all cultural events in the city. The show was also marketed to police officers through the "Police Funds" organization.
