The IDF demanded that an investigation be opened on suspicion of incitement against Rabbi Dov Lior, after he called for harming Palestinian olive groves. The matter was published this evening in the weekend magazine of i24NEWS by crime desk editor Li Ayesh. In a letter the rabbi issued regarding olive harvesting in Judea and Samaria, he claimed that the Arabs never bought the land from the people of Israel and therefore it is stolen in their hands, and that according to Jewish law, land cannot be stolen. He further wrote that if Palestinians are unable to harvest for security reasons, they have presumably given up on the fruit, and therefore Jews are permitted to harvest the olives even in areas far from settlements, in order to fulfill the commandment of conquering the land. The article does not include a response from Rabbi Lior or IDF officials.
