Israeli occupation authorities closed the Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron to Muslim worshippers on Friday and expelled its employees and custodians affiliated with the Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs, preventing them from remaining inside, according to Wafa news agency. The Ministry of Awqaf, in a statement, condemned the closure of the mosque and the expulsion of its employees, considering it "a violation of the sanctity of Islamic holy sites and freedom of worship guaranteed by international charters and laws." It emphasized that closing the mosque, preventing prayer there, and expelling its staff is part of "a policy of Judaization and restriction aimed at imposing full control over it, dividing it temporally and spatially, and depriving it of its legitimate Islamic administration." The ministry stressed that "the Ibrahimi Mosque, with all its arcades and courtyards, is a pure Islamic endowment." It warned of the repercussions of repeated violations and attacks on religious staff and holy sites, calling on the international community and human rights organizations, led by UNESCO, to urgently intervene.
