Number of Jewish students in Baku continues to grow: community prepares for expansion

The number of Jewish students at State School No. 46 in Baku has crossed the 100 mark, and the local Jewish community is preparing to expand the institution if the trend continues. The school, operating since 2008, combines a state curriculum with studies of Hebrew, Jewish history, and tradition. At the helm is Rabbi Zamir Isayev, head of the Sephardic community in Baku, who marked his 45th birthday at a Sukkot appreciation event. The event was attended by community members and Azerbaijani government representatives, and Isayev received an official letter of blessing from Ramin Mammadov, chairman of the State Committee for Religious Institutions. Mammadov praised the community's activities and its contribution to public and cultural life in the country. The increase in student numbers is not isolated, and in recent years there has been a consistent rise.
