The new international flotilla to the Gaza Strip, organized by the Freedom Flotilla Coalition, will not continue to its destination this year due to mechanical failures and two difficult encounters with migrant bodies in the Mediterranean Sea. The main ship, "Kate" (Tenacity), departed from Bristol on August 17 and was scheduled to arrive in Sicily on October 14, but the delays reduced the time window for sailing. The organizers announced postponement of the attempt to spring 2027. Volunteer Frank Romano expressed regret over ending the journey without reaching Gaza. Human rights lawyer Hwaida Araf criticized the international community for its failure to protect Palestinians. Over the weekend, an interfaith conference is being held in Catania, Sicily, under the title "Faith in the Time of Genocide," with the participation of Christian, Muslim, and Jewish clergy. The organizers supported the arrival of international activists to the West Bank for olive harvesting. The flotilla's Italian legal team welcomed progress in the Rome prosecutor's investigation against senior Israeli officials, including Ministers Katz and Ben-Gvir, Chief of Staff Zamir, and others, on suspicion of torture, kidnapping, and injury.
