More than 60,000 Christians and Jews marched in Lima, Peru on Saturday in the March of Life, honoring Holocaust memory, supporting Israel, and condemning antisemitism. Israeli Ambassador Gali Dagan addressed the crowd, urging commitment to fighting Jew-hatred and thanking Peru for adopting the IHRA antisemitism definition.

More than 60,000 people marched in Lima, Peru on Saturday, October 31, 2026, in the March of Life, an international movement uniting Jewish and Christian communities to honor Holocaust memory, support Israel, and condemn antisemitism. The event was organized with the Worldwide Missionary Movement (MMM) and attended by Israel's Ambassador to Peru, Gali Dagan, along with other key figures. Participants predominantly wore white T-shirts and carried Israeli flags; a separate march of over 3,000 young people also took place. Ambassador Dagan urged the crowd to commit to fighting Jew-hatred, stating, "Tonight, we remember the six million Jews murdered during the Holocaust... We must also remember those who, amid that darkness, chose to help and save lives." He highlighted two Peruvian diplomats, José Gambetta and José Barreto, who facilitated passports for persecuted Jews. Dagan noted an "alarming" escalation in antisemitism since the Hamas massacre of October 7, 2023, and encouraged support for Israel on social media. He expressed gratitude to the Peruvian government for adopting the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) definition of antisemitism on October 26, 2026, calling it "an important signal of commitment." The adoption marks a policy shift under President Keiko Fujimori, who took office in July. Dagan concluded by thanking Peruvian Christians for their friendship, which was met with applause and a standing ovation.
