Minister Ze'ev Elkin, responsible for the rehabilitation of the north and south, admitted at the "Time for Deeds" conference of the Gaza Envelope Forum in Kibbutz Nahal Oz that the agreement reached with Hamas is not ideal. According to him, "there was tension between dismantling Hamas and releasing the hostages, and Israel reached a non-ideal agreement." Elkin assessed that Hamas will not disarm willingly, and therefore Israel will have to do so itself. He noted that Israel will not agree to the 15-point plan. Minister Orit Strock, who voted against the agreement, called for a full occupation of the Strip, the dismantling of Hamas, and encouraging emigration and settlement. Sderot Deputy Mayor Elad Kalimi attacked the lack of treatment of the issue in the parties' platforms, and Eshkol Council Head Michal Uzaihu demanded a state commission of inquiry after the elections.
