"Meta" develops a humanoid robot for household chores in collaboration with a Chinese company

Meta has developed a prototype humanoid robot named "Max" in collaboration with the Chinese company Fourier, standing 1.5 meters tall and weighing 48 kilograms, with the ability to pick up small objects. Work on a second version, "Max 2," began last September.

The American company Meta has developed a prototype humanoid robot codenamed "Max," in collaboration with the Chinese robotics company Fourier, as part of its efforts to develop artificial intelligence devices that could eventually help users with household chores. The robot stands about 1.5 meters tall and weighs approximately 48 kilograms. It features a screen capable of displaying facial expressions, built-in speakers, and hands equipped with fingers designed to pick up small objects such as bottles and toys. Max relies on Jetson Thor chips from Nvidia to provide the necessary processing power. The report cited informed sources stating that teams from Meta traveled to China to work directly with Fourier, where the vice president of robotics product, Lee Chin Miller, spent about two months at the Chinese company's factory in Shenghai. The prototype was presented to a group of Meta employees during an internal robotics meeting held in late August 2026. According to the report, the two companies began developing a second prototype codenamed "Max 2" last September, which includes modifications to the torso and hand design.
