Medical sources, in a statement on World Food Day, reported that malnutrition and starvation in the Gaza Strip have reached catastrophic levels, with 466 deaths recorded since 2024. Projections indicate that more than 1.4 million Palestinians (67% of the population) will face a food crisis until the end of 2026. 157 children have died from malnutrition, and 158,001 cases of acute malnutrition were recorded among children under five. The mortality rate for children under five rose from 13.6 to 33.4 per 1,000 live births. 12.2% of children suffer from stunting, and 74,200 children need treatment until April 2027. The rate of anemia among pregnant women rose to 61%, and about 4,000 pregnancy losses were recorded. The elderly constitute the largest share of deaths (189 elderly), with 11% not having eaten any meal in a full day. The sources called on the international community to take immediate action to ensure the entry of food and medicine into Gaza.
