Matan Angrest came to the family of Haimnot and promised: "I won't stop until she returns"

Former hostage Matan Angrest visited the Kassaou family's sukkah in Jerusalem with his parents, strengthening Haimnot's parents and calling on the public to continue supporting the struggle for her return. Angrest, released after 738 days in Hamas captivity, said public support helped him return and that there is now a moral mission to bring Haimnot home.

Matan Angrest, a former hostage released after 738 days in Hamas captivity, arrived with his parents Anat and Hagai at the Kassaou family's protest sukkah in Jerusalem, "Haimnot's sukkah." Angrest, an armored soldier who was kidnapped wounded and unconscious from the Nahal Oz outpost on October 7, 2023, strengthened Haimnot's parents, Benji and Tesfaya, and called on the public not to leave them alone. "I felt firsthand how much the support from the people helped me return," Angrest said. "Now we have a moral mission to bring Haimnot home." The Angrest family was among thousands of visitors who came to the sukkah this week. At the end of the holiday, the sukkah will be dismantled at the demand of the Jerusalem Municipality, and the Kassaou family is requesting to set up an alternative protest encampment in a location accessible to the public and decision-makers.
