Many words, few of them on the economy: what did politicians post before the elections?
Globes examined 3,245 tweets from 12 party leaders on X between July and October 2026. The most common word was 'Israel'. Netanyahu was mentioned the most. The economy was almost absent from the discourse, except for Yaron Zelikha. Bennett was the top tweeter.
Ahead of the end of the Knesset election campaign, Globes examined all tweets on X (formerly Twitter) by 12 party and list leaders between July 17 and October 20, 2026 – 3,245 tweets and 1,448 videos. The most common word was 'Israel' (2,685 mentions), followed by 'government' and 'state'. Benjamin Netanyahu was the most mentioned politician – 1,813 times, five times more than Gadi Eisenkot in second place. The economy almost disappeared from the discourse: the first economic word is 'money' in 25th place, and only for Yaron Zelikha was the economy central – about 65% of his tweets. For Netanyahu only 8.5% of tweets dealt with the economy, and for Deri just one tweet. Naftali Bennett was the top tweeter with almost a sixth of all tweets. The analysis shows a sharp decline compared to 2022 in economic discourse, except for Smotrich who rose from 2% to 9% after entering the Finance Ministry.
