Laboratories evacuated, campaign videos filmed: Storm over Netanyahu's visit to Tel Hai
Researchers and students at Tel Hai University were required to evacuate the main laboratory building for about three hours ahead of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's visit to a ceremony marking the institution's upgrade to a university. During the visit, videos were filmed in the building in which Kiryat Shmona Mayor Avichai Stern and Likud branch chairman Eli Zafrani called for support for Netanyahu. The filming in a public academic building raises questions about the use of public assets for election propaganda, in accordance with Section 2A of the Elections Law. Inbal Shoham, a Democrats activist and wife of a researcher, described in a post that the evacuation notice was given with only two hours' notice, disrupting the workday of dozens of researchers. She criticized the university's priorities, noting that hundreds of work hours were discarded for a propaganda video. The article notes that at this stage it has not been determined whether a violation of the law occurred.
