Maj. Gen. (res.) Israel Ziv, former head of the Operations Division in the General Staff, sharply criticized Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz in an interview with 103fm following the terror incident on a Flydubai flight. Ziv claimed there is "a trend on the part of the government to create an escalation before the elections for political considerations," calling it "a display of leadership poverty and a scramble for political points." According to him, the recent statements by government ministers regarding Iranian involvement are not coincidental, and the Defense Minister, instead of calming things down, is "beating the drums of war." Later in the interview, Ziv also pointed a finger at Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich regarding the violence in Judea and Samaria, which he described as planned, systematic, and well-funded. "There is money behind this, it is a directed system," Ziv said, accusing the Prime Minister of turning a blind eye.
