The Israel Museum in Jerusalem ranked 16th on Worth a Journey's 2026 list of the world's 100 best museums, placing ahead of the Louvre (31st), Vatican Museum (67th), and Rijksmuseum (69th). The German travel magazine's algorithm-based ranking uses a two-step process: a specialized algorithm processes millions of data points from hundreds of thousands of venues, followed by in-person visits to recalibrate if needed. The museum was commended for its diverse collections, including the Shrine of the Book, Archaeology Wing, and Judaica holdings. Across 38 specialized categories, 22 Israeli venues and sites secured entries on 14 lists. Notable placements include Haifa's Sammy Ofer Stadium (9th for football stadiums), Jerusalem's Mahaneh Yehuda Market (14th for food markets), and three Israeli hotels on the wellness list: Safed's Canaan Hotel (37th), Carmel Forest Spa Resort (56th), and Six Senses Shaharut (87th). The editors stated that venues cannot pay to enter or rise on any list.
