Iran's Foreign Minister: We are examining a letter from the US Vice President

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said in an interview with Al Jazeera that the letter sent by US Vice President JD Vance is being examined in Tehran. According to him, if its purpose is to sow discord, it is a strategic mistake. Tehran sees no need for a meeting at this stage and will decide on talks only after the US accepts its conditions: recognition of the shipping route in the Strait of Hormuz, renewal of sanctions waivers on oil, unfreezing of funds, and ending the war on all fronts.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said in an interview with Al Jazeera that the letter sent by US Vice President JD Vance to reach an agreement with Iran is being carefully examined at the highest levels in Tehran. Araghchi addressed the notion that the letter's purpose is to sow discord among Iran's high ranks, and said that if that is the intention, it is a strategic mistake on Washington's part. According to him, Tehran sees no need for a meeting of American representatives at this stage, because Iran's conditions are clear: recognition of the Iranian shipping route in the Strait of Hormuz and its opening, renewal of the sanctions waiver on oil exports, unfreezing of all frozen Iranian funds, and ending the war on all fronts, including in Lebanon. He further said that the mediating countries have submitted proposals to Iran regarding the nuclear issue, and they are being examined as part of the second stage of an agreement. Iran is prepared for any scenario and has recently improved its military capabilities.
