Saudi-led airstrikes kill civilians near Sanaa, Yemen

Saudi-led coalition airstrikes hit the Bani Hushaysh district of Sanaa governorate, killing civilians. Houthi-run media reported casualties. The coalition intercepted a Houthi cruise missile toward Riyadh.

Houthi media said on Saturday that Saudi airstrikes killed at least 22 people, including women and children, in al-Shariya, a town near the Yemeni capital Sanaa. The Houthi-run Health Ministry spokesman reported 22 dead and 30 wounded, mostly women and children. The Houthi news agency Saba described the attack as a 'Saudi enemy warplane massacre' and said aircraft targeted paramedics with two strikes. Hours earlier, the Saudi-led coalition said it intercepted a Houthi cruise missile heading toward Riyadh. The exchange followed an attack on a market in Taiz province that killed 30 people, with each side blaming the other. A 2022 truce fell apart in July after the Houthis allowed an Iranian plane to land in Sanaa, leading to renewed hostilities. The UN reports over 1,600 killed and 300,000 displaced since fighting resumed.
