He used the "Yedidim" organization – and now files a class action lawsuit against them

A man who previously used the "Yedidim" organization filed a request to approve a class action lawsuit for 2.5 million shekels, claiming the organization sent him a donation request in violation of communications law and without his consent. The organization rejects the claims and warns that a significant financial penalty could harm its free assistance activities. Meanwhile, thousands of drivers who used the organization have organized against the legal proceedings, led by former MK Abir Kara, arguing the lawsuit does not represent them.

Amit Vorgaft, who previously used the "Yedidim" organization, filed a request to approve a class action lawsuit for 2.5 million shekels. According to his claim, after contacting the organization's hotline for assistance, a message was sent to his phone requesting a donation, without his consent and in violation of communications law. The organization, which operates a network of about 65,000 volunteers providing free assistance, rejects the claims and warns that a significant financial penalty could harm its ability to continue providing free aid to the public. This is not the first time Vorgaft has pursued legal action against the organization: in 2022, a previous proceeding ended in a settlement, under which the organization paid 1,000 shekels. Concurrently with the legal proceedings, a group of thousands of drivers who previously used "Yedidim" services has formed, led by former MK Abir Kara, opposing the lawsuit and arguing it does not reflect their position. The plaintiff's representatives stated that the lawsuit concerns the sending of advertising messages to over a million people over years without their consent, and that the organization still sends donation requests and even advertisements for a commercial battery sales website in 2026. The organization, in turn, claims it sent a single message twice a year and stopped two years ago.
