The Haifa District Court today (Monday) convicted Mazid Hamdan of bribing Ze'ev Dolinsky, the personal senior advisor to former President Reuven Rivlin. Hamdan was convicted as part of a plea deal, after confessing to the acts attributed to him in the amended indictment. According to the indictment, Hamdan exploited his long-standing acquaintance with Dolinsky, formed through their joint activity in the Likud party, to advance economic interests. Between 2018 and 2020, Hamdan transferred at least 6,000 shekels to Dolinsky in exchange for assistance in advancing requests before government and public authorities, in areas including planning and construction, licenses, entry visas to Israel, and medical matters. Another case involved attempts to advance appeals against the results of Ministry of Health certification exams. As part of the plea deal, the parties agreed to jointly petition for a sentence of six and a half months of actual imprisonment to be served as community service, along with a suspended sentence and a fine whose amount will be determined by the court.
