Gantz reveals Lieberman's move – PM warns: "He will do it again"
Prime Minister Netanyahu responded to the clash between Gantz and Lieberman, claiming that Lieberman sought to form a government in 2020 with the support of Balad, and intends to do so again. Gantz accused Lieberman of promoting the ousting of Eisenkot and forming a narrow government with Tibi. Lieberman replied that Gantz is acting to save Netanyahu.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the public clash between Blue and White chairman Benny Gantz and Yisrael Beiteinu chairman Avigdor Lieberman, joining the attack on Lieberman. Netanyahu claimed that Lieberman sought to form a government in 2020 with the support of the Balad party, and intends to act to form a similar government after the upcoming elections. "Gantz reveals the truth: Lieberman wanted to form a government in 2020 with Balad from the Joint List – at any cost," Netanyahu stated. "He wanted it then. He wants it today. And he will do it again." The Prime Minister added: "Lieberman and Eisenkot will establish a left-wing government with the Arab parties. Only voting for Likud will stop this government." His remarks followed a post by Gantz, in which he accused Lieberman of promoting a move to oust Gadi Eisenkot and forming a narrow government with Ahmad Tibi. Gantz noted that in 2020, Lieberman was, according to him, one of the main proponents of forming a government relying on the Joint List. Gantz added that following the October 7 massacre, Israel cannot afford a government relying on the Arab or Haredi parties. Lieberman dismissed the accusations and replied: "I am acting to save the country, Gantz is acting to save Bibi."
