From the High Court to Lapid: Bennett's changes on the way to the ballot box
Naftali Bennett has returned to politics with a new party, a union with Yair Lapid, and a shift in his positions, including opposition to the judicial reform. He has changed his public appearance and focused on attacking Netanyahu over Qatar. In polls, the Together list receives 11–15 seats.
Naftali Bennett has returned to the election campaign for the 26th Knesset with a new party, a new political partnership, and a series of messages different from those that characterized him in the past. The former prime minister, who built his political career in Religious Zionism and the right, now seeks to present himself as a candidate who can lead a broad government combining the national right and the center. One of the most significant moves Bennett made was the union with Yesh Atid chairman Yair Lapid. The two, who previously served together in the rotation government, announced a joint run on the Together list. The change in attitude toward the judicial reform is noticeable: in the past, Bennett was associated with sharp criticism of judicial activism, but now he presents a position opposing the continuation of the reform and seeks to preserve the status of the High Court. Bennett has also changed his public appearance; the suit and tie have given way to a black T-shirt and jeans. In the political sphere, he pledged to declare Qatar a hostile state and attacked Netanyahu over his ties with it. In a Channel 14 poll, the Together list received 11 seats, while in Channel 12 and 13 polls it received 15 and 14 seats respectively.
