For the first time in Israel: Innovative and non-invasive prostate treatment

Shaare Zedek Medical Center has performed Israel's first treatment using the UroLift 2 system to relieve urinary disorders caused by benign prostatic hyperplasia. The system uses tiny implants inserted through the urethra to retract obstructing tissue without resection or destruction. The minimally invasive procedure is performed under light sedation, and many patients are discharged the same day.

Shaare Zedek Medical Center has performed Israel's first treatment using the UroLift 2 system, designed to relieve urinary disorders caused by benign prostatic hyperplasia. This marks the first use of the system in Israel and outside the United States. The treatment is performed through the urethra without external incisions, using tiny permanent implants that retract the prostate tissue pressing on the urinary tube, without cutting or destroying the tissue. The procedure is performed under light sedation without the need for general anesthesia, and many patients can be discharged home the same day without a catheter. Common side effects are temporary and include burning, blood in urine, urgency, and pelvic pain. The treatment is suitable for men aged 45 and older with a prostate volume of up to 100 cc, but suitability is determined by the medical team. The head of the urology department, Prof. Boris Chertin, stated that the choice of Shaare Zedek reflects the center's leadership in urology in Israel.
