Arkia Airlines has begun operating direct flights from Tel Aviv to Madeira, an island in the Atlantic Ocean belonging to Portugal. The first flight departed last night in partnership with Millennium, using an Airbus A321 aircraft. The direct flight time is approximately 6 hours and 20 minutes, landing at Madeira International Airport, named after Cristiano Ronaldo, a native of the island. The airport is considered operationally challenging and requires special training for crews, which Arkia pilots have completed. In the initial phase, the company will operate three direct flights, with plans to expand operations later. Madeira is described as a tourist destination combining dramatic nature, cliffs, hiking trails, beaches, and picturesque towns, with a pleasant climate year-round.
