The incident occurred on Sunday, the second day of Rosh Hashanah. Mor admitted to the acts but claimed he felt threatened. The police are requesting his detention until the end of proceedings.

An indictment was filed this morning (Friday) at the Haifa Magistrate's Court against Dean Mor, a 34-year-old resident of the Hadar HaCarmel neighborhood. Mor is charged with causing damage to a church on Ha-Persim Street in the city and assaulting a police officer. According to the indictment, the incident occurred on Sunday this week, the second day of Rosh Hashanah, around 8:00 AM. Mor entered the church, climbed onto the priest's stage, and after being removed by a person present, picked up a stone and threw it at the church window, shattering it and causing damage estimated at 1,180 shekels. After being arrested and taken to the Haifa police station, Mor spat twice in the face of a police officer from the Druze community and cursed him with a racial epithet. During his interrogation, Mor admitted to the acts but claimed he felt threatened both at the church and at the police station. Mor has no criminal record. The indictment does not attribute a religious motive or a hate crime to the act at the church. The police are requesting his detention until the end of proceedings.
