FIFA's decision after the brawl in the World Cup final

FIFA reduced the suspension of Argentina defender Nahuel Molina from seven to four matches and lowered his fine, following an appeal by the Argentine Football Association. Leandro Paredes' suspension remains unchanged.

FIFA announced the reduction of the suspension of Argentina and Roma defender Nahuel Molina, following the brawl that broke out at the end of the 2026 World Cup final. After an appeal filed by the Argentine Football Association, Molina's suspension was cut from seven to four international matches, and his fine was reduced from $77,000 to $60,000. In contrast, midfielder Leandro Paredes' appeal was rejected, and his suspension remains in place: a ten-match ban and a $90,000 fine. Molina has already served three of the four matches of his suspension, missing friendly matches in October against Bolivia, Burkina Faso, and Benin. He was not included in the squad for the November matches against Uruguay and Costa Rica, but will be available for upcoming games.
