Father of hostage survivor attacks Netanyahu: "For 18 years he didn't know who the enemy was"
Eli Albag, father of former hostage Liri Albag, sharply attacks Prime Minister Netanyahu, accusing him of not knowing who the enemy was for 18 years. Albag expresses support for Gadi Eisenkot and calls for him to replace Netanyahu as prime minister, while criticizing the lack of a state commission of inquiry.
In an interview with 103FM, three years after the October 7 massacre, Eli Albag, father of former hostage Liri Albag, sharply attacks Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. "Netanyahu knows how to take half a nation and pit it against the other half, and Netanyahu for 18 years didn't know who the enemy was, for 18 years no one woke him up," Albag said. He expressed support for Gadi Eisenkot, calling on him to replace Netanyahu: "I hope Eisenkot becomes prime minister, he is a worthy man, a person with different values." Albag harshly criticized the lack of lessons learned: "My biggest conclusion from October 7 is that we learned nothing, we did nothing. As long as Bibi is prime minister, there will be no commission of inquiry." Alongside the political criticism, Albag spoke about Liri's condition: "She is doing well. She is recovering day by day. The day before yesterday she went to one of her friends who was murdered, it took her three years to visit her grave and ask for forgiveness." He described the guilt she carries: "She carries guilt with her, as if she is guilty of something, it's inconceivable—she is alive and they are not."
