Ghaith al-Tamimi, a former Iraqi Shia cleric and close associate of the leaders of the Shia axis, gives an exclusive interview to Channel 14 and describes his personal transformation—from hatred of Israel to seeing it as an ally. In the interview, he sharply criticizes Iran and supporters of the Palestinian cause, and explains why he loves Netanyahu's Israel. Al-Tamimi, a native of Baghdad, studied Shia religious studies in Najaf, became a well-known cleric, and served as a spokesman for Muqtada al-Sadr's political movement. He was arrested by the Americans in 2007 and spent four years in prison. According to him, the diversity of opinions he was exposed to in prison, along with the development of the internet, caused a deep perceptual shift regarding Israel and the United States. He met Ali Khamenei three times, and at one of the meetings, in 2013, President Ahmadinejad, Larijani, and General Qasem Soleimani were also present. Today he leads an organization called the 'Iraqi Citizenship Project' and divides his time between Erbil, London, and the Emirates.
