End to the Airbnb nightmare: The chores hosts can no longer demand from you

Airbnb announced a global policy change effective November 20, prohibiting hosts from requiring guests to perform significant cleaning tasks such as stripping beds, washing dishes, or taking out the trash. The move comes after numerous complaints about high cleaning fees alongside long chore lists. However, hosts will still be able to make reasonable requests such as placing dishes in the sink or limiting shower duration in areas with water restrictions. An Airbnb spokesperson explained that the goal is to create clearer rules without surprises at the end of the vacation.
