The Israeli decision was conveyed to representatives of the US Central Command, who requested explanations. Although Israel is not participating in the fighting as part of the recent escalation between the United States and Iran and between Saudi Arabia and the Houthis, the American refueling planes regularly take off from Israel for missions across the Middle East. About two months ago, the Director General of the Israel Airports Authority, Sharon Kedmi, warned that Ben Gurion Airport would not be able to carry out all planned summer flights if it were to absorb additional American refueling aircraft.
