Due to increased combat readiness: IDF cancels traditional pilgrimage to Mount Dov

The IDF has canceled the traditional pilgrimage to Mount Dov, scheduled for October 23, due to increased combat readiness. The decision was made following a security assessment by the Northern Command. The pilgrimage was to take place at the site of the "Covenant Between the Parts," where, according to tradition, the covenant between God and Abraham was made. The director of the "Keshet Yonatan" field school, Elazar Play, expressed trust in the army's decision but noted the disappointment of hundreds of participants.

The IDF has canceled the traditional pilgrimage to Mount Dov, scheduled for Friday, October 23. The decision was made following a security assessment conducted by the Northern Command. The pilgrimage was to take place at the site of the "Brit Bein HaBtarim" — the "Covenant Between the Parts," where, according to tradition, the covenant between God and the patriarch Abraham was made. Hundreds of residents of Kiryat Shmona and the Golan Heights, students of the hesder yeshiva, and soldiers of the "Hermon" Brigade were expected to participate. The director of the "Keshet Yonatan" field school, Elazar Play, stated that he trusts the military command's decisions but expressed the disappointment of participants who wanted to pray for rain and take a tour. The reason for the cancellation is the introduction of a maximum level of combat readiness as part of preparations for the election period. The army explained that it cannot allocate forces to guard the pilgrims. Last year, the IDF allowed the tradition to resume, and about 200 people attended the prayer.
