Czech Republic to purchase four SPYDER All in One systems from Rafael
The Czech Republic will purchase four SPYDER All in One air defense systems from Rafael, announced Czech Defense Minister Jiří Zuna. The deal expands a previous 2021 agreement and includes the development of a national command and control system. Rafael is expected to generate additional revenues in the billions of shekels.
The Czech Republic will purchase four SPYDER All in One air defense systems from Rafael, announced Czech Defense Minister Jiří Zuna at the parliamentary defense committee in Prague. The new deal represents a significant expansion of the previous agreement between the countries: in 2021, Israel and the Czech Republic signed an intergovernmental agreement for the sale of four SPYDER batteries for about 2 billion shekels, with two batteries already in the Czech Republic. Now, due to changing Czech needs, Prague seeks to shift from point defense systems to a broader national air defense array. As part of the expansion, Rafael will also lead the development of a national command and control system to unify the country's air defense capabilities. The deal is expected to generate billions of additional shekels for Rafael. The SPYDER system is designed to counter drones, aircraft, helicopters, and ballistic missiles, and its export advantage is that it is an Israeli system without American involvement, requiring no U.S. approval.
