Coalition claimed their requests to attend ceremonies were denied - 'Hayom' investigation reveals a different story

A coalition source claimed that MKs requested to attend memorial ceremonies in the Gaza border communities but were rejected. An investigation by the newspaper in Kfar Gaza, Nir Oz, and Kissufim revealed the opposite picture: the communities completely denied that such requests were turned down, and even noted that everyone who asked to come was allowed. The gap raises questions about the original claim.

A coalition source claimed today that several MKs requested to attend memorial ceremonies held in the Gaza border communities marking three years since the October 7 massacre, but were denied by families and residents. The newspaper's investigation in Kfar Gaza, Nir Oz, and Kissufim revealed a different picture: in Kfar Gaza they completely rejected the claim, saying "it never happened"; in Nir Oz they stated that no request from a coalition member had been received; in Kissufim they clarified that everyone who asked to attend was honored. In Be'eri, a closed ceremony was held for invitees only, but politicians who were personally invited attended. The gap between the coalition source's version and the communities' responses raises questions about the claim that families sought to prevent coalition members from attending.
