A 52-year-old Palestinian woman, working as a caregiver for an elderly man in Tuba-Zangaria without a stay permit, called the police and complained that his family members were preventing her from leaving the home and returning to her own. The officers who arrived at the scene arrested her on suspicion of illegal stay in Israel. The Nazareth Magistrate's Court extended her remand by two days, but the Nazareth District Court criticized the conduct, accepted the appeal of the Public Defender's Office, and ordered her release. Judge Hanna Sabbag ruled that "it is unthinkable that a person who turns to the police for help and reports an offense committed against him would find himself in custody until the arrest of the person who committed the offenses against him." The police stated that both involved parties were arrested for investigation, and after the district court's decision, the woman was released and transferred to the Palestinian Authority territories.
