Candy bags adapted for Simchat Torah - so that no child is left out

The Sderot municipality is preparing for the fourth consecutive year to distribute candy bags adapted for children with allergies and gluten sensitivity during the Simchat Torah holiday. The municipal social services department initiated the project, and through the "Communities" project of "Reut Sderot," requests are collected from families via synagogue wardens. The initiative is funded by the Department for Jewish Culture.

The Sderot municipality is preparing for the fourth consecutive year to distribute candy bags adapted for children with food allergies and gluten sensitivity during the Simchat Torah holiday. The initiative aims to ensure that these children can participate in the holiday joy alongside their friends at the synagogue, without fear and without the need for meticulous inspection of each candy. The project was initiated by the municipal social services department, which is responsible for product safety. To determine how many bags are needed and where to distribute them, the "Communities" project operated by "Reut Sderot" contacts synagogue wardens in the city through a dedicated form, and the wardens collect requests from families. The entire project is carried out in partnership with and funded by the Department for Jewish Culture, which finances all Simchat Torah bags distributed in synagogues across the city.
