Bugatti CEO Mate Rimak was forced to embark on a cross-border chase after his personal Bugatti Chiron, valued at an estimated €2.4 million, was stolen by a Croatian man in his 30s who came to the company's production facility near Zagreb looking for work, spotted the keys in the car, and fled. Rimak, who had left the keys in the car out of a sense of security, contacted the police, jumped into a Porsche 911, and gave chase. Using an advanced telemetry system, he tracked the car's location in real time, coordinating with police forces in Croatia, Slovenia, and Austria. The thief was arrested in Austria after stopping to refuel and fleeing without paying. The car was recovered with minor damage. Rimak announced he would not press charges personally, but the thief is expected to face trial due to the car's high value.
