Bypassing the High Court: The E1 tender advances despite the delay
The Israel Land Authority kept the deadline for submitting bids for the tender for 1,234 housing units in E1, but postponed the opening of the bid box to after the elections, in a move designed to bypass the High Court ruling and the directive of the Attorney General. The organization "Peace Now" attacked the decision.
The Israel Land Authority published an update to the tender for the construction of 1,234 housing units in the disputed E1 area. The deadline for submitting bids remains 26/10/19, but the tender committee will not open the bid box before 26/11/19, after the elections scheduled for 27/10/19. The move is intended to bypass the High Court ruling and the directive of the Attorney General, who ordered the opening of the box to be postponed by a month to prevent the tender from being used as part of election propaganda. The organization "Peace Now" attacked the decision and argued that even at the new date there is a high probability that contracts with contractors will be signed before a new government is formed, and the incoming government will face a fait accompli.
