Breakthrough: New drug reduces risk of endometrial cancer progression by 41%

An international study led by NYU found that the sac-TMT treatment reduces the risk of endometrial cancer progression by 41% and the risk of death by 32% compared to standard chemotherapy.

A groundbreaking international study led by researchers from NYU Langone Health found that the innovative treatment sacituzumab tirumotecan (sac-TMT) reduces the risk of endometrial cancer progression by 41% and the risk of death by 32% compared to standard chemotherapy. The drug works as a targeted therapy that binds to the Trop-2 protein on cancer cells and delivers an active agent directly to the tumor. 35% of treated women showed a positive response, including significant tumor shrinkage—a rate twice as high as the response to chemotherapy. Lead researcher Dr. Bhavana Pothuri noted that the results establish the drug as a new standard of care in recurrent endometrial cancer. The study may lead to changes in clinical guidelines.
