Araqchi: No response from Saudi Arabia and the Houthis to our mediation

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi stated that Tehran has not received a response from Saudi Arabia or the Houthis regarding its mediation offer to end the conflict in Yemen, noting that both sides have conditions unacceptable to the other. He linked regional progress to understanding with Washington, recalling the "seven-day plan" which includes reopening the Strait of Hormuz.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said that Tehran has not yet received a response from Saudi Arabia or the Houthi group in Yemen regarding its offer to mediate between the two sides to end the conflict. Araqchi added, in an interview with the "Iraqi News Channel" on Tuesday evening, that both Saudi Arabia and the Houthis have conditions to end the conflict, but they are not acceptable to the other party, stressing the need to help bring the viewpoints of the two sides closer. Tehran linked progress towards a regional settlement to reaching understandings with Washington on outstanding issues. Araqchi indicated that Tehran had previously presented an initiative called the "seven-day plan," which included its conditions for reaching an understanding with Washington, including the full reopening of the Strait of Hormuz on the sixth day of the plan. Earlier this October, the Yemeni government accused Iran of arming the Houthis, training their elements, and providing them with military and technical expertise, considering that Tehran's offer of mediation to end the conflict, concurrent with its military support for the group, raises questions about the seriousness of its role in achieving peace.
