A 60-year-old Jewish man was injured last night in an antisemitic attack in the Schöneberg district of Berlin. The attack occurred around 8:00 PM in a public garden on Gladitsch Street. According to police, the man was sitting on a bench with an acquaintance when a stranger approached, offered beer, and asked if he was Jewish. After he confirmed this, a verbal altercation ensued during which the attacker made antisemitic remarks. The assailant sprayed beer on the victim, threw a full can at him, then knocked him to the ground and struck him repeatedly while he lay there. A passerby called the police, and the attacker fled on foot. The man suffered bruises and cuts to his face, his glasses were broken, and his coat was torn; he initially refused medical treatment. The investigation was transferred to the Berlin police's State Security unit due to the clearly antisemitic nature of the attack. The main suspicion is aggravated assault motivated by antisemitism.
