Hadassah Hospital opened a clinic in Limassol, Cyprus, in an official ceremony attended by the President of Israel, but the move sparked a controversy in the Ministries of Health and Finance, which claimed they were unaware of it. The project, Cypriot-owned, is expected to include a medical clinic in the first phase and a full hospital in Nicosia by 2027. Hadassah doctors will not be employed in the project but will provide training and consultation. Revenues are expected to also reach the hospital in Jerusalem, partly through medical tourism. The establishment will be carried out by Osopil, a company registered under the names of Israelis David Elster and Eli Israeli. The Ministry of Health demands a review of the business model and fears a leakage of resources from the public system. Hadassah claims the project is based on a 2016 agreement known to the Ministry of Health. The article also reviews Hadassah's activities in Russia, where a hospital was established in Moscow owned by Medscan, and plans in Mexico, which focused mainly on genetic testing for the Jewish community.
